RAAFA received their Triobike Taxi trishaw bike on the 13th of February along with two others which arrived in Perth.

If riding your bike more often is one of your new year’s resolutions – you’re not alone. Everyone knows it’s a great way to get back into shape and living in the inner suburbs it’s definitely the best way to beat the traffic. But if you’ve got a baby or a child or two, you may have dismissed the whole idea of cycling or commuting by bike and have left yours rusting away in the shed since giving birth and now consider cycling as just a weekend thing.s,” said Nina.  “I can see huge potential for cargo bikes in Melbourne, especially with young families. We use the bike all the time; for shopping trips, going to farmers markets and playgrounds and the beach on weekends. It’s easy to park and as a family, we like the feel-good factor of cycling – feeling healthier and fitter, enjoying the freedom a bike gives us and knowing we’re not polluting the environment.”

To celebrate the opening of the new improved shop (yes, we know it has been operating for a while) we are having a family friendly cargo bike event. Bring the kids and test ride a new bike, meet Ben from Yuba or learn about buying a new Yuba Spicy Curry with a salary sacrifice scheme. The team at E-Stralian are co-hosting this event and would love to chat. The event is FREE – with family fun, food, drinks and awesome smoothies by The Smooth Ride. RSVP to this event at the link below and you’ll receive a free puncture repair kit when you arrive! tinyurl.crtcb.com

Team Strib and Cycling Without Age Featured on ABC TV’s 7:30 Report

Six young Danish blokes on their gap year from uni set out on an epic adventure when they recently rode from Newcastle to Tassie on Triobike Taxis to promote Cycling Without Age (CWA). CWA is a worldwide movement that started in Denmark in 2012 that has brought the joy of cycling to thousands of people of all ages and abilities. The program involves volunteer cyclist ‘pilots’ taking elderly passengers in specially designed rickshaw cargo bikes to local parks, scenic places or just down to the shops.

The guys from the town of Strib in southern Denmark popped into several communities and towns that are already getting about on the Triobike trishaws. They had a great time riding grateful passengers around country towns, met some real characters and immersed themselves in Aussie culture and spread a little bit of Danish ‘Lykke’ on the way (Danish for happiness, not butter) Rough country roads, sunburn and the odd brush with snakes and wildlife were all part of the fun.

Good work guys!

Check out some of their time in Melbourne – as covered by the 7:30 Report.

Bicycle Network wrote this great post about cargo bikes and how they can replace short trips with the kids or for business.

Cargocycles got a mention with some of the bikes we stock.

Have a read here.

Cargocycles is proud to take part in this year’s Ride2Work Day on Wednesday, October 18th! Ride along with us – the Cargocycles team will all be cargo biking to work!

Cycling to work is such a good thing – it improves your health, saves time, saves money and it’s good for the environment. It makes commuting safer as it gets cars off the roads and it has even been found to increase your productivity! We’d love to see lots of other fantastic cargo bikers out on the streets on the 18th. If you miss us on your commute you can still share your experience with us on Facebook or Insta. How many k’s do you do on your commute? Where do you park your cargo bike at work? And what cargo are you carrying?

The National Ride2Work Day is Australia’s largest celebration of commuter riding and is organised by the Bicycle Network. Held annually in October, the day celebrates the benefits of riding to work and brings together the communities that support it. The main objective of the day is to normalise the idea of riding to work and encourage people who have never ridden to work before to give it a go. It also allows regular riders to stay motivated and encourages their work mates to get involved. You can register for the event and find out where to get a free biker’s brekkie here

Follow six young guys from Denmark as they pilot 3 x Rickshaws south from Newcastle NSW all the way to Tasmania, sharing rides and having fun along the way.

Their mission is to ride with the elderly on their Rickshaws to improve their health and emotional well-being! This is part of the Cycling Without Age Movement that is spreading throughout the world.

Cycling Without Age was started in 2012 by Ole Kassow. Ole wanted to help the elderly get back on their bicycles, but he had to find a solution to their limited mobility. The answer was a trishaw and he started offering free bike rides to the local nursing home residents.

The Cargocycles workshop team were super busy this week. One of the bikes delivered was this Yuba Boda V3 with a mid drive Lekkie Summit system. This features very smooth power delivery with gear shift sensing (so the power is momentarily removed as you shift). The battery is easily removable and mounted as low as possible in the frame with a custom bracket fabricated in house.

It turns a Boda V3 into a total car replacement. Load it up and make it work!

Why Lekkie? Here are some of the reasons we like.

Mid drive motor – The Summit System

  • A mid drive system has the advantage of driving through the bicycle gears. This allows for a greater torque and speed range. Great for people who want to ride as fast as possible or climb as steep as possible. Also it can fit to a wider range of bikes.
  • More technical ride, gear changing is still needed for best performance.
  • Suits bikes with internal hub gears.
  • Suits all wheel sizes.
  • Motor weight is kept central in the frame.
  • Keep original wheels.
  • Greater top speed and climbing ability.

At Cargocycles we have the ability to build the custom cargo bike of your dreams. Talk to us, we are happy to give you no obligation, free advice. We’ve powered up many cargo bikes over the years, we have a good idea about what works and what doesn’t for all types of cargo bikes.

Gear shift sensor

Battery mounted nice and low to keep centre of gravity low.

Custom-made battery bracket

We have a very small number of Juiced Bikes Cross Current models in stock and ready to go right now. In mid May we will have lots more arriving including the mixte frame in all colours and frame sizes. A very small number of the Hyper Extended Range 21ah capacity batteries will be available too. We will also have the Ocean Current arriving at the same time. Talk to us or come down to our East Brunswick store to test ride. SOLD: Check out this awesome custom Donky bike!

A cross between your favourite Tonka truck and a BMX, the Donky Cargo Bike is the tough, no frills cargo carrier. While it doesn’t have the sleek thoroughbred looks of some bikes, it’s more a hard-working pack-horse built for work and a sight cheaper than other cargo bikes out there.

This Donky Bike is designed to be ridden easily and safely with whatever you need to take with you. Cargo load is carried on the frame, not the handlebars, so the steering and handling is light and balanced.

  • 3 speedカSturmey Archer maintenance-free hub gears & gear selector
  • 3 piece BMX crank
  • Super beefy BMX wheels
  • Easy to maintain powerful V brakes
  • Heavy duty racks
  • Pick up from East Brunswick only.

Cargocycles recently supplied two ZeitTrike bikes to MYOB Headquarters for them to use in a new venture called theカLittle Learning Library. カThe end result looks fantastic and their production team were really happy.

Hi Matt,

Weダ_ve finally finished the bikes and had our first Little Learning Library launch.カThey look awesome!

In fact, they look so cool a lot of people have been asking about the bikes! Of course Iダ_ve been giving everyone your name so they can buy and convert their own bikes!

Thanks for being so great to deal with.
